CARACTERIZAÇÃO DA PESCARIA DE GALEOTA-MENOR (Ammodytes tobianus Linnaeus, 1758) NA RIA DE AVEIRO, PORTUGAL

| dc.description.abstract | In the Spring and Summer of 2002 an experimental fishing study was carried out in Ria de Aveiro to determine the impact of the fishing gear, “Rede-da-Galeota”, on its target species the small sandeel Ammodytes tobianus. Catch data showed that this fishing net has the potential to affect both target and non-target species, with negative consequences for the local marine ecosystems. Survey data analysis revealed that the “Rede-da- Galeota” retained 9 by-catch species, 7 of which with commercial interest, namely the sardine (Sardina pilchardus), the thinlip grey mullet (Liza ramada), the thicklip grey mullet (Chelon labrosus), the golden grey rangon) and the european green crab (Carcinus maenas) . The by-catch species made up to 15% of the total catch and the remaining 85% were composed mainly of juvenile specimens of A. tobianus (71,3%). All the commercial bycatch specimens caught by “Rede-da-Galeota” were smaller than the minimum allowed landing sizes. Taking into consideration the poor size selective properties of this fishing net, it is recommended to maintain the “Rededa- Galeota” in the list of prohibited fishing gears and practices in Ria de Aveiro, in compliance with the administrative rule Portaria n.º 563/90 of July 19th. | eng |
| dc.description.abstract | Na Primavera e no Verão de 2002 foi realizada uma campanha de pesca na Ria de Aveiro para avaliar o potencial impacte da arte de pesca “Rede-da-Galeota” sobre a espécie-alvo da pescaria, a galeota-menor Ammodytes tobianus. Os dados das capturas mostraram que esta rede tem um impacto negativo sobre as populações de galeota-menor e espécies acessórias, o que pode comprometer o equilíbrio dos ecossistemas marinhos locais. Na composição das capturas acessórias foram identificadas 7 espécies de peixes e 2 espécies de crustáceos, 7 das quais com interesse comercial, nomeadamente a sardinha (Sardina pilchardus), a tainha-fataça (Liza ramada), a tainha-liça (Chelon labrosus), a tainha-garrento (Liza aurata), o tainha (Scophthalmus rhombus), o camarão-mouro (Crangon crangon) e o caranguejo-verde (Carcinus maenas). A galeota-menor foi a espécie dominante, representando 85% do total dos exemplares capturados, no entanto as capturas desta espécie foram constituídas sobretudo por juvenis (71,3%). As espécies acessórias representaram 15% das capturas totais. Todos os exemplares com interesse comercial capturados apresentaram comprimentos inferiores ao tamanho mínimo legal. Tendo em consideração a fraca selectividade da arte de pesca “Rede-da-Galeota”, recomenda-se a sua manutenção no grupo de artes e práticas de pesca proibidas na Ria de Aveiro, de acordo com o disposto na Portaria n.º 563/90, de 19 de Julho. | por |
