A livre circulação de informação e o seu fácil acesso influencia os comportamentos das sociedades e das instituições, neste caso específico da Guarda Nacional Republicana enquanto veículo comunicacional. Partindo desta premissa, o presente Trabalho de Investigação Aplicada que se subordina ao tema “Reações Reativas e Pró-ativas da Guarda perante os Media ” tem como objetivo analisar as relações existentes entre a Guarda e os OCS, procurando desta forma respostas para eventuais relações futuras, o que inevitavelmente conduzirá a uma perceção mais positiva do trabalho da GNR na sociedade. Este trabalho pretende ainda descobrir que elementos da GNR interagem com os media e quais as razões da sua escolha, bem como, identificar possíveis restrições por parte da GNR na informação fornecida aos media. O trabalho está dividido em duas partes distintas: a primeira destinada à introdução, apresentação geral do trabalho e revisão de literatura ou “estado da arte” sendo este um levantamento e uma apreciação crítica da literatura correspondente. A segunda fase apresenta o trabalho de campo realizado com entrevistas, a análise e discussão dos resultados obtidos, resposta às perguntas de investigação e verificação das hipóteses, terminando com conclusões e recomendações futuras. Com o presente estudo chegou-se à conclusão que um relacionamento eficaz com os OCS, possibilita projetar a GNR para um campo de força de segurança moderna, flexível e em sintonia com a mudança da sociedade atual. Permite chegar mais facilmente ao cidadão pela via comunicacional e ainda incrementar uma atitude próativa para com a sociedade.Abstract Nowadays the institutions suffer a strong media scrutiny, which is responsible for the way citizens face these institutions and the reality surrounding them. The free circulation of information and its easy access influence the behavior of societies and institutions, including Guarda Nacional Republicana as a means of communication. On this assumption, the present Applied Research about “Reactive and Proactive Reactions of Guarda Nacional Republicana before the Media” aims to analyse the relationship between GNR and OCS, looking for new approaches for the future which, obviously, will improve the image of GNR work in society. It also intends to understand the reasons behind the choice of GNR members who interact with the media, as well as identify possible restrictions on information provided to them.The present study is divided into two distinct parts: the first one includes the introduction, the general presentation of the research and the review of literature, or “state of art”, which consists of a survey and a critical assessment of the relevant bibliography. The second part presents the experimental work with the interviews, the analysis and the discussion of the results, as well as the answers to the research questions and the verification of the hypotheses, ending with the conclusions and the ongoings. With this study we came to the conclusion that the relationship, like the media, enables to place GNR into a field of a modern and flexible security force consistent with the changing of our present society.
