Incidindo-se no tema “Da Polícia Judiciária Militar: Contributos para uma análise do regime vigente”. A escolha da temática, deveu-se à pertinência que a Polícia Judiciária Militar tem vindo a apresentar no Sistema de Justiça Militar, nomeadamente, na projeção quanto ao Código de Justiça Militar e na sua aplicabilidade aos ramos das Forças Armadas. Não esquecendo, por certo, o desempenho da sua competência de Investigação Criminal e toda a sua evolução como Polícia Judiciária Militar até ao presente. O estudo metodológico que se reflete, é a materialização de uma investigação, que busca o propósito e existência da Polícia Judiciária Militar no presente. Na sua base predominam-se diversas perspetivas e fatores determinantes, como a Justiça Militar, os Crimes Estritamente Militares, o Código de Justiça Militar, a competência de Investigação Criminal e as Forças Armadas. Em suma, a sua essência reflete-se no trabalho de observação participante e no inquérito por entrevista, procurando-se expor como produto final a resposta à problemática central, bem como os seus principais propósitos de existência. Só através da imersão no meio castrense, se consegue responder aos quesitos em causa.The present dissertation, seeks a solution to the fundamental question that both civil and military society are eager to find an answer for, “Does it make sense, nowadays, for the continuous existence of a Military Judicial Police”. It focuses on the subject of "From the Military Judicial Police: Contributions to an analysis of the current regime". The thematic choice was due to the relevance that the Military Judicial Police has come to represent in the Military Judicial System. Namely, in the visibility it presents regarding the Military Justice Code and its applicability in the branches of the Armed Forces. Not forgetting, of course, the performance of their criminal investigation competence and their evolution as a Military Judicial Police. The resultant methodological study, is the materialisation of an investigation, which seeks to find the Military Judicial Police purpose of existence in the current days. At its base, multiple perspectives are predominant, but so are some determinant factors, like the Military Justice, Strictly Military Crimes, Criminal Investigation competence and the Armed Forces. In short, its essence is reflected in a work of both participant observation and questionaries by interview. From which, is attempted to expose as a final product, the answer to the central question as well as their main points of existence.
