A metodologia de trabalho de projeto consiste na escolha de uma atividade intencionada, relevante para os que nela participam e inserida no contexto social dos alunos, que se assumem participantes ativos, desenvolvendo o seu projeto num ambiente natural, integrando e globalizando saberes. A metodologia de investigação utilizada insere-se numa abordagem qualitativa da recolha e tratamento de dados e numa estratégia de investigação sobre a prática docente desenvolvida numa turma do 3º ano de escolaridade no âmbito da unidade curricular de Estágio III do Mestrado em Educação Préescolar e Ensino do 1º Ciclo do Ensino Básico. No estudo realizado, descreve-se, analisa-se e interpreta-se todo o processo de construção de um trabalho de projeto, tendo em consideração os conhecimentos anteriores dos alunos, os métodos de pesquisa utilizados, a recolha e o tratamento da informação. A análise e a avaliação do processo e dos resultados obtidos evidenciam a importância da utilização da metodologia do trabalho de projeto na aprendizagem dos alunos, revelando-se as suas potencialidades para a aquisição de novos conhecimentos e de novas competências.The main theme of this report is the development of students' learning and skills through the project work in the area of the Study of the Environment, aiming to reflect and understand how a teaching practice based on this methodology contributes to the intellectual, affective development Participation of its participants. The methodology of project work consists in choosing an intentional activity, relevant to those who participate in it and inserted in the social context of the students, who assume active participants, developing their project in a natural environment, integrating and globalizing knowledge. The research methodology used is part of a qualitative approach to the collection and processing of data and a research strategy on the teaching practice developed in a group of the 3rd year of schooling within the scope of the curricular unit of Stage III of the Master's in Pre-school and Teaching the 1st Cycle of Basic Education. In the study, the whole process of constructing a project work is described, analyzed and interpreted, taking into account the students' previous knowledge, the research methods used, the collection and the treatment of the information.
