Sendo a União Europeia uma organização supranacional, da qual Portugal faz parte, e atendendo aos efeitos da globalização na evolução das ameaças que emergem contra os Estados, procuramos perceber de que forma se estabelecem as relações entre os Estados-Membros (concretamente no caso português) e a União Europeia na partilha de um objectivo comum – garantir a segurança interna da União Europeia e dos próprios Estados. O trabalho realizado reflecte sobre os efeitos da globalização e as dificuldades reveladas pelos Estados perante esta realidade, aborda o funcionamento da União Europeia e a articulação dos diferentes actores que concorrem para sua segurança interna, incidindo sobre o funcionamento do Sistema de Segurança Interna português e a sua extensão no desenvolvimento do Espaço de Liberdade Segurança e Justiça. Procuramos então perceber o quadro actual da segurança interna na Europa e em Portugal, esclarecendo o seu envolvimento e mútua influência.In the current days we face a moment of change, in which, being the emergency of supranational organizations before us, the necessity of redefining the role of the State in the new board of international relations arises. The European Union, being a supranational organization, from which Portugal is part of, and viewing the effects of globalization in the evolution of threats against the States, we seek to understand in which way the relations between the State-Members (fundamentally in the Portuguese case) and the European Union in the sharing of a common purpose – to guarantee the internal security of the European Union and its own States. This assignment reflects on the effects of globalization and the difficulties revealed by the States before this reality, discusses the behavior of European Union and the articulation of the different actors that apply to its internal security, focusing on the running of the portuguese Internal Security System and its extension on the development of the Area of Freedom, Security and Justice.
