Repositóriohttp://hdl.handle.net/10400.26/58834Este trabalho teve como objetivo avaliar a atuação da enfermagem veterinária no maneio de pacientes com obstrução uretral felina. A obstrução uretral felina é uma uropatia obstrutiva decorrente de anomalias estruturais e/ou funcionais do trato urinário inferior, que impedem o fluxo urinário normal do animal. Esta condição é particularmente comum em gatos machos, jovens, castrados, com excesso de peso e que vivem exclusivamente indoor, apresentando uma etiologia variada, sendo as causas mais frequentes a cistite idiopática felina, a urolitíase e os tampões uretrais. O seu tratamento exige uma abordagem imediata, começando pela estabilização do animal, seguida do alívio da obstrução, maneio médico adequado e uma forte componente educativa dirigida ao tutor, focada nas alterações alimentares e enriquecimento ambiental, na qual o enfermeiro veterinário desempenha um papel essencial. O presente relatório foi elaborado no âmbito do estágio curricular da licenciatura em Enfermagem Veterinária da Escola Superior de Biociências de Elvas. O estágio foi realizado na Clínica Veterinária Vetsaraz, em Reguengos de Monsaraz, com a duração de 12 semanas, entre 17 de fevereiro e 12 de maio de 2025. Durante este período, foram acompanhados 347 cães e 119 gatos, com participação ativa da aluna em áreas como consultas, internamento, cirurgia e exames complementares de diagnóstico. Dos 119 gatos, foi possível acompanhar e participar no tratamento médico de 3 gatos machos com obstrução uretral felina, o que lhe permitiu observar a importância da atuação do enfermeiro veterinário nesta condição. A realização do estágio curricular contribuiu para a evolução da aluna enquanto futura profissional, reforçando a sua autonomia e autoconfiança no que toca ao desempenho das funções associadas à enfermagem veterinária no contexto prático, além de lhe ter permitido aprofundar e consolidar diversos conhecimentos, adquiridos ao longo do curso.This study aimed to evaluate the role of veterinary nursing in the management of patients with feline urethral obstruction. Feline urethral obstruction is an obstructive uropathy resulting from structural and/or functional abnormalities of the lower urinary tract, which prevent normal urinary flow in the animal. This condition is particularly common in male, young, neutered, overweight cats that live exclusively indoors, presenting a varied etiology, with the most frequent causes being idiopathic feline cystitis, urolithiasis, and urethral plugs. Its treatment requires an immediate approach, beginning with the stabilization of the animal, followed by relief of the obstruction, appropriate medical management, and a strong educational component directed at the guardian, focused on dietary changes and environmental enrichment, in which the veterinary nurse plays an essential role. This report was prepared as part of the curricular internship for the degree in Veterinary Nursing at the Elvas School of Biosciences. The internship was carried out at the Vetsaraz Veterinary Clinic in Reguengos de Monsaraz, lasting 12 weeks, between February 17 and May 12, 2025. During this period, 347 dogs and 119 cats were monitored, with the student actively participating in areas such as consultations, hospitalization, surgery, and complementary diagnostic tests. Of the 119 cats, it was possible to monitor and participate in the medical treatment of three male cats with feline urethral obstruction, which allowed her to observe the importance of the veterinary nurse's role in this condition.
