Esta análise pretende compreender o processo criativo do ilustrador, e como este pode influenciar crianças e jovens através do material pedagógico produzido. A partir da contextualização histórica, estuda-se a evolução do manual escolar, do papel do ilustrador no mesmo e a representação do género feminino. Para concretizar essa análise, escolhem-se dez livros de leitura e manuais escolares que caracterizam o modo como é representada a mulher caucasiana e, para além disso, identifica-se as ilustrações de forma iconográfica, iconológica e gráfica. Dado o papel da Ilustração na representação do género, esta fornece bases para as conclusões da investigação.This dissertation analyzes the presence of Illustration in textbooks from 1st cycle of school, from 1940 to 2012, with a focus on gender representation. This analysis aims to understand the creative process of the illustrator, and how it can influence children and teenagers through the pedagogical material produced. With the historical context, we study the evolution of the textbook, the role of the illustrator in it and the representation of the female gender. To carry out this analysis, ten reading books and textbooks are chosen, that characterize how is caucasian woman is represented and, furthermore, the illustracions are identified in a iconographic, iconological and graphical form.
