Estes, através do Curso de Formação de Oficiais de Polícia (CFOP), têm uma formação específica para uma determinada função, com valores e padrões de exigência associados, aos quais os alunos são moldados ao longo de cinco anos. Mas quem são estes indivíduos? Torna-se relevante compreender de que modo se desenrola o seu processo evolutivo, desde meros candidatos ao curso, até serem Oficiais de Polícia, aquando do términus do mesmo. O presente estudo é baseado em métodos qualitativos e quantitativos e tem como primordial objetivo perceber quem são os futuros Oficiais de Polícia, e de que modo o seu processo de aculturação promovido pelo ISCPSI contribuiu para tal. Neste sentido, torna-se interessante compreender que tipo de competências os alunos adquirem especificamente no CFOP. Do mesmo modo, clarificar quais as principais transformações que o aluno sofre ao longo do curso, desde o seu ingresso até terminar o quinto ano, e de que modo essa mudança é influenciada pelo processo educacional e formativo promovido no ISCPSI. Foi realizado um estudo de caso que incidiu sobre os atuais cinco cursos do CFOP ainda em formação no ISCPSI. Efetuaram-se entrevistas aos Oficiais de Polícia que exerceram a função de Comandante do Corpo de Alunos e de Diretor de Ensino do ISCPSI durante a formação destes cinco cursos, bem como ao atual Diretor do ISCPSI. Do mesmo modo, aplicou-se um inquérito por questionário à população total dos alunos desses mesmos cursos, excluindo naturalmente os alunos oriundos de Países Africanos de Língua Oficial Portuguesa (PALOP), visto que estes serão polícias nos seus países de origem e não futuros Oficiais da PSP. Os principais resultados sugerem que os futuros Oficiais de Polícia são sujeitos a um processo educacional e formativo direcionado para uma função específica, promovido pelo ISCPSI, o que faz com que terminem o curso com uma abrangência muito diversificada de conhecimentos, em termos genéricos, e com competências singulares e características para o desempenho da sua futura função.The Higher Institute of Police Sciences and Internal Security (ISCPSI) trains future Public Security Police (PSP) Officers. But who are these individuals? It becomes relevant to understand how their evolutionary process unfolds, from mere candidates to the course, to being Police Officers at the end of the course. The present study is based on qualitative and quantitative methods and its main objective is to understand who the future Police Officers are, and how their process of acculturation promoted by ISCPSI contributed to this. In this sense, it becomes interesting to understand what kind of skills students acquire specifically at CFOP. In the same way, clarify what are the main changes that the student undergoes during the course, from the beginning of the program until the end of the fifth year, and how this change is influenced by the educational and training process promoted at ISCPSI. A case study was carried out that focused on the current five CFOP courses still in training at ISCPSI. Interviews were made with the Police Officers who exercised the role of Commander of the Student Body during the training of these five courses, as well as with the current Director of ISCPSI and Director of Education of ISCPSI. In the same way, a questionnaire survey was applied to the total population of students of those same courses, naturally excluding students from African Countries of Portuguese Official Language (PALOP), since they will be policemen in their countries of origin and not future Officers of the PSP.
