Abstract(s)
desenho metodológico compreende três métodos, a saber: (i) revisão
Assim, deveremos
The present research consists of an exploratory study divided into four chapters on mental health programs for public security professionals, focusing on the topic of police victimization and mental health. I used the concept of victimization developed by Minayo (2014) who states that the expression “professional victimization” refers to public security agents as victims of physical and emotional injuries or death in the exercise of their profession. The aim of this research is to identify, describe and analyze the institutional programs related to the subject of police victimization, and if such programs have structured actions within the mental health area. Specific objectives are the analysis, study and description of programs aimed at the prevention of pathologies linked to mental health. The methodological design comprises three methods, namely: (i) systematic literature review, (ii) document analysis of programs related to the topic of police victimization prevention and (iii) field research with the Psychology Division of the Polícia de Segurança Pública (Portugal). Actions and programs to prevent victimization were researched in institutions in Portugal, France, the United States of America and the United Kingdom. It is concluded that prevention actions against police victimization have increased in the various institutions analyzed, which is still a poorly structured field. Thus, we must recognize that police victimization is a growing reality for security forces and that, therefore, greater investment and attention must be given to this phenomenon.
